About PBF Photography

Los Angeles based PBF Photography is owned and operated by photographer Patrick Botz-Forbes.

Established in 2006, PBF Photography specializes in all types of photography from fashion, glamour, and artistic studio photography to wedding, sports, and other event still photography and video. Patrick's photography experience is primarily hands-on having worked as a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Loyolan Newspaper for three years. There he covered basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball games as well as formal dances, dance concerts, plays, musicals, presentations, and lectures. Since moving on from the Loyolan, Patrick has continued to develop his photographic skills working extensively with various forms of studio lighting and artistic photography.

PBF Photography separates itself from other photographers in two ways:

Quality of Work - Anyone can take a photo. Taking a good photo requires both an eye for composition and a creative sense and direction. Without such an eye and such creativity, a person cannot learn to be a good photographer. Technique alone cannot make a good photo.

Quality of Equipment - Digital cameras are becoming cheaper and cheaper. Now a decent camera can be bought for only a few hundred dollars. As the technology matures, cheaper cameras can now produce good images. What separates professional equipment from consumer equipment is quality. Professional equipment is built and designed to produce an image that is sharper, more accurate, and just plain better. The saying that you get what you pay for becomes obvious when you compare images from the cheaper cameras to the professional cameras.

In the end, a professional camera cannot make a bad photographer good. However, it can allow a good photographer to get you the once-in-a-life-time images for which you are paying for. Reliability is important in a photographer and his equipment. Professional equipment is less likely to break down during a shoot. PBF Photography uses the same professional equipment photographers used to capture the events of the Olympics.
